How BanCaller works

From installation to your first report.

  1. Download and enable protection

    Install the app and follow the guidance in settings to enable protection.

  2. Update the database

    Your phone downloads updates according to its network and system settings.

  3. See the call status

    The number is compared with the database on your phone. Its label helps you assess an unknown call.

  4. Report a number after a call

    Choose a category and confirm the report. The call itself does not send a report.

Enable identification in the system

On iPhone, allow BanCaller to identify and block calls in the Phone app settings. The app will guide you through the setup.

An up-to-date database on your phone

iOS uses the database made available to it. After an update, the system still has to apply the data; background behaviour depends on iOS.

After a call

You can check and report a number. A report started from the system Phone app may wait to be completed in BanCaller.

What a number status means

The status helps you assess a call. It is not a guarantee of safety.

No active warning
The number has no active label. The lack of a warning does not mean the call is safe.
Suspicious number
The number has an active warning and an assigned category.
Blocked number
Blocking or silencing depends on protection settings, the operating system and data validity.
Recognised number
A label assigned by an administrator. It does not confirm the caller’s identity or guarantee safety.
